Accuplacer Facts
- Accuplacer is a test that is used by colleges and universities to place students appropriately into classes within their institutions.
- Accuplacer is a suite of computer-adaptive placement tests that quickly, accurately, and efficiently assess reading, writing, and math skills.
- All students are required to take the Basic Accuplacer test as part of the CSEC enrollment process.
- The Basic Accuplacer is used as a placement test—not an entrance exam--and does not directly affect a student's eligibility for acceptance.
- Basic Accuplacer modules include math, reading comprehension, sentence structure and essay.
- Accuplacer is taken completely online and must be proctored by a qualified CSEC staff member.
- Scores are available immediately upon completion of the test. View a score chart at www.csec914.org (Prospective Students)
- The Basic Accuplacer test is not timed except for the 25-minute essay. Students should allow 2-2.5 hours to complete Accuplacer. Some students complete the test more quickly. A few take longer.
- The Accuplacer Diagnostic test helps identify gaps in a student's knowledge of a certain subject: Arithmetic, Algebra, Reading Comprehension, Sentence Structure.
