Teacher Directed One to One Computing at CSEC

At the April meeting of the CSEC Governing Board, the board voted unanimously to implement a new individual computer opportunity for the school year 2010-2011.

Listed below are the major components of the one to one computing program which simply means: “Anytime, Anywhere Technology For Every Student, inside and outside the classroom, 24/7”.

  1. Our teacher directed educational program will be enhanced with computer usage.  In our classrooms, individual computer usage is integral but not exclusive to teacher directed instruction.
  2. Computer usage and keyboarding skills will be structured and taught.
  3. All CSEC students will be given the use of a net book computer that they will use in the classrooms and take home to complete their course assignments and homework.
  4. The computers will be imaged by CSEC for safe internet usage.
  5. A Technology Agreement signed by the students and parents will structure the usage of the computers.
  6. The Technology Agreement will be a lease-purchase option of a maximum outlay of $60.00 per year and a maximum purchase investment of $240.00.
  7. The Technology Agreement outlay will be due at the start of each school year and CSEC will reduce the fee by 50 percent for students who attended 90 percent of their classes and passed all of their courses for the previous school year.
  8.  Students will be responsible up to $100.00 per year for misuse of the computer that results in the breakage or need for replacement.
  9. Students can use their Refer A Friend $100.00 Scholarship toward the payment of the Technology Agreement.  The referred Student must stay through the first semester of the school year.
